Allan
Hirt: Webmaster of StyxCollector.com
If you haven't already guessed, that's me pictured to the right. Besides
working full time in the computer industry, I'm a musician and a freelance
journalist. I've been playing bass for about 18 years now, and am in
an original jazz ensemble. I just changed the band's name to Pulse,
but we did release a CD on back in 1995 that marked where we were at
the time with the original band name of Discipline. If you want to know
more about our music (or order a CD), e-mail me via the link at the
top of my bio. The CD has just been released. As for the journalism
stuff, I've interviewed such people as Dennis DeYoung (Styx), Tommy
Shaw (Styx, Damn Yankees, Shaw Blades), Neal Schon (Journey, Bad English,
Hardline), Steve Smith (Journey, Vital Information, Shaw Blades, The
Storm, etc.), Gregg Rolie (Journey, The Storm, Santana), Ross Valory
(Journey, The Storm), Howard Jones, Steve Hackett (Genesis, GTR), Jack
Bruce (Cream), John Wesley Harding, Tony Levin (Anderson Bruford Wakeman
Howe, Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, Buddy Rich, King Crimson, etc.), and
Tony Banks (Genesis) just to name a few. I started out writing for my
college newspaper, and now have been published in magazines like Bass
Player and Keyboard, as well as the independent 'zine Adverse Reaction,
which is available in the Philadelphia area.
